Villiers welcomes final victory in battle against a superstore in New Barnet, as new housing gets the go ahead at Asda gas works site

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has welcomed the grant of planning approval for new homes on the former gas works site in New Barnet, but is urging the Council to ensure that funds raised from the developers through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL, formerly section 106) are spent on services and infrastructure in New Barnet and East Barnet in the area immediately surrounding the development.

Manor Hill Greek School invites Theresa Villiers to present certificates

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet and long time campaigner for justice for Cyprus, visited Manor Hill Greek School yesterday to present GCSE and A level certificates to successful students. The event took place at the Totteridge Academy in Barnet Lane which is where Manor Hill School is based on Saturdays and around 500 parents, children and teachers were present. Guests of honour included the head of Cyprus Education Mission in the UK, Maria Papalouka.

Villiers supports Tamil community at event for All Party Parliamentary Group on Tamils

Theresa Villiers was present for the first ever Annual Dinner for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Tamils and the British Tamil Forum. Theresa is a strong supporter of efforts to achieve justice for the Tamil people. Many other Conservatives were there to support the British Tamil community including Lee Scott MP, Bob Blackman MP, Robert Halfon MP, Nick de Bois MP, Gavin Barwell MP, Chris Grayling MP, Roger Evans AM, and Charles Tannock MEP. Nick de Bois read a statement by Prime Minister David Cameron and Chris Grayling, Secretary of State for Justice, gave a speech supporting the Tamil community.

Villiers campaigns for re-opening of East Barnet Health Centre

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has asked for an urgent meeting with NHS England, NHS Property Services and Barnet’s NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to press for progress on getting East Barnet Health Centre open again.

Chipping Barnet MP, Theresa Villiers last week attended the launch of the Open Doors’ Freedom of Religion and the Persecution of Christians Report in the Houses of Parliament.  The report used detailed information to demonstrate that religious persecution of Christians worldwide increased in 2014, particularly in the Middle East and Nigeria.

Holocaust Memorial Day

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, attended Barnet council’s annual memorial event on Sunday to remember those murdered in the Holocaust. This took place in Middlesex University’s Ricketts Quadrangle in in Hendon on Sunday.
