Villiers backs campaign to save Trent Park

Theresa Villiers MP has written to English Heritage in a bid to protect Trent Park’s historic house. Ms Villiers has urged English Heritage to put the building on the ‘heritage at risk’ register. 

Villiers’ campaign for better broadband for Barnet continues

After lobbying efforts by Theresa Villiers MP, BT have agreed to visit High Barnet to meet representatives of residents and hear their concerns about poor access to fibre broadband in the ward. The meeting is due to take place in mid March. BT have also provided Theresa with further information on how they intend to use the £50m of funding they have announced to fill the gaps in provision of fibre broadband across the UK.

Villiers supports Manor Hill Greek School dinner

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, attended the Manor Hill Greek School dinner at the weekend. A long time supporter of Manor Hill and other Greek schools in her constituency, Theresa has been attending this event for some years. The dinner is one of the biggest events on the calendar of the British Cypriot community in north London with around 500 parents, children, teachers and supporters attending.

Response to campaign emails on tax dodging

In response to the campaign emails she has received on tax dodging and HSBC, Theresa Villiers MP has issued the following statement:The Conservatives have cut taxes as part of our long term economic plan to build the most competitive corporate tax system in the world. We believe in low taxes, but taxes that are paid. Our priority to make sure everyone pays the taxes that they owe – securing a stronger economy and a better future for Britain. 

Response to campaign emails on fracking and the Infrastructure Bill

In response to the campaign emails which she has received on the Infrastructure Bill and fracking, Theresa Villiers MP has issued the following statement:When it comes to decisions on fracking and underground access for shale gas exploration, safety is the Government’s top priority. The UK has over 50 years of experience in regulating the onshore oil and gas industry and we have a strong regulatory regime for shale gas extraction. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is responsible for checking all aspects of operators' plans and designs, and no site will be given the go ahead without first meeting strict safety criteria.

Theresa Villiers MP has come out in opposition to proposals for library closures in her Chipping Barnet constituency. In her response to the consultation on libraries in Barnet which closed yesterday, she called on Barnet Council to find other ways to make the savings needed in the libraries budget.

Villiers backs plans for £100m rebuild of Chase Farm Hospital

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has backed plans for rebuilding Chase Farm Hospital. The Royal Free Foundation Trust (which includes Chase Farm Hospital), has submitted an outline planning application to Enfield Council for a new hospital building of up to 32,000 sq metres, as well as new homes and a three-form entry primary school. 

East Barnet Health Centre to re-open in the autumn, after a £1m refurbishment

At a meeting today in the constituency office of Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, NHS Property Services announced that they are to carry out a full refurbishment of the East Barnet Health Centre, with work starting by the end of March, and re-opening planned for the end of September or early October. Funding of £970,000 has been secured, and most of the work needed to appoint contractors has been completed.

Villiers welcomes APPG report on anti-Semitism

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet yesterday attended an event hosted by the Archbishop of Canterbury at Lambeth Palace to launch a report by the All Party Parliamentary Group Against Anti-Semitism on how to combat the rise in anti-Semitic incidents.
